History Events
The LCSP are delighted to have supported a number of history events across the North Inner City over the last few months.
Things kicked off as part of our monthly Wolfe Tone Square social events, supported by The Church and the Tram Café. DCC’s Historian-In-Residence Elizabeth Kehoe joined us and local residents from around Wolfe Tone Square to talk about the Forgotten Measures of curfews during the early 1920s during World War I. Not only that, but Elizabeth has included the Wolfe Tone Square residents in a project on the history of O’Connell Street, and has met with them again to hear their stories and memories of Dublin’s north inner city.
We’ve also had Terry Fagan from the North Inner City Folklore Project, who gave a talk in Killarney Court for the older adult residents living there about the history of life in the Monto in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and also joined us in the LCSP support office for Culture Night for a talk on Dublin’s history.
