Spring 2024 – Fireside Talks

Throughout Spring of 2024, Chair of the Local Community Safety Partnership Eddie Mullins has been hosting Fireside Talks in secondary schools across the North Inner City community. So far, we have held these with Larkin Community College, O’Connell Secondary School, and the Brunner (St. Paul’s CBS).

Eddie has shared about his own background, his career starting as a chef in hotels and his own business, before moving into the Irish Prison Service as a chef and then progressing up to be Governor in several of Ireland’s prisons, and his current roles as CEO of Merchants Quay Ireland and as Chair of the Local Community Safety Partnership.

Students had the opportunity to ask Eddie their own questions, on topics ranging from his own experience growing up in Dublin’s inner city, his perspectives on issues facing the north inner city, and what young people can do to help their community.

Thanks to all the schools’ staff for opening their doors to us, and to all the students for their time and insightful questions.

Eddie has really enjoyed speaking with students across the North Inner City, and we’re looking forward to hosting further Fireside Talks. If any scools in the area are interested, please let us know by emailing us at communitysafety@dublincity.ie, or giving us a ring at 01 2226551.
